With the recent addition of Active FX Fractional Skin Resurfacing, Dr Olsen can help you turn the ageing clock back. Experience the dramatic skin tightening and improvement on skin tone in a single treatment with minimal downtime! So look good and feel great!
Our skin changes over time, losing it's youthful look and giving way to brown spots, wrinkles and laxity. In recent years there has been a growing number of aesthetic procedures available to treat the skin. Active FX (the result of the latest advances in laser technology) is a new procedure that yields remarkable, long lasting results with just one treatment. A fast office-based procedure with minimal patient downtime, Active FX is your single-treatment solution for beautiful, younger looking skin. During an Active FX Fractional Resurfacing procedure, a high-energy beam of laser light interacts with the skin's surface, causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin. With Active FX, only a fraction of the skin's surface is treated. The laser beam is applied in a fractional pattern, leaving small "bridges" of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.
How does it work? The Active FX procedure works by applying CO2 laser energy in multiple, narrow, high-energy beams which smoothes out lines, wrinkles and scars and removes dark spots and other irregularities, while leaving small islands of unaffected skin to ensure rapid healing. CO2 laser energy is ideal for this purpose because it penetrates deep into the dermis (the skin's structural layer) eliminating damaged cells and stimulating growth of new collagen. This new collagen lifts and supports the epidermis (the skins surface) causing tightening and rejuvenation without scarring.
How long does the treatment take? The approximate time for a full face treatment is 45 minutes. We do need the patient at the clinic an hour before hand for pre-treatment photos and application of local anaesthetic. Other sites can be treated at the same time. Expect to be at Fraser Clinic for about 2 and a half hours. One or two repeat treatments to selected areas are often desirable to achieve optimal results. There must be at least 3 months between treatments to allow for collagen remodelling. These additional treatments are at an additional but reduced cost.
