Light Based Treatments and Active FX
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Fraser Clinic has been carrying out IPL treatments for over 10 years and was the first clinic to introduce this revolutionary treatment to the Bay of Plenty region. We commenced our practice with the Photoderm Epilight IPL and have progressed on to the Quantum IPL in recent years. We have treated well over 1000 patients during this time and our current level of expertise reflects that experience gained over many years.
At Fraser Clinic, we have the latest IPL technology and the longest experience of treating patients with IPL in the Bay of Plenty.
What is Intense Pulsed Light?
IPL technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions such as birth marks, unsightly small veins, brown pigment, age spots, freckles and sun damaged necks and chests.
IPL offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing super cosmetic results through photorejuvenation.
Photorejuvenation, or photofacial, is a procedure first developed in the USA with the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). This treatment is available at Fraser Clinic with our IPL machine. Photorejuvenation using IPL is a non-invasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skins surface, hence little or no recovery time. IPL can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively. These include broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots (sun-induced freckles) and mottled pigmentation.
This procedure gives excellent results in treating all aspects of sun damaged skin, fine lines and enlarged pores. By stimulating new collagen formation, a smoother texture and tone is developed in the skin. The procedure involves a series of full facial treatments using IPL, with 4 - 6 treatments administered at three weekly cycles. The entire treatment usually lasts about 30 to 40 minutes and whilst not painless, is easily tolerated - each pulse of light described as "like being hit with a rubber band."
The treatments are equally effective in treating chest, neck and backs of hands and are suitable for men and women of all ages. IPL has also been used to treat rosacea, a chronic condition of the face characterised by facial flushing and fine blood vessels (Telangiectasia).
The beauty of IPL treatments is that all aspects of ageing can be treated with a single flash, eliminating the need for several different lasers and keeping treatment sessions to a minimum.
