Microdermabrasion (MDA)

Crystal microdermabrasion is a treatment that literally polishes the skin. It involves the use of small calcium hydroxyapatite crystals. These crystals are projected onto the skin surface using specialised equipment which applies suction at the same time to clear away the skin debris and used crystals.

Microdermabrasion is a very popular treatment, either alone or combined with mild glycolic peels to freshen up the skin and act as an adjunct to the treatment of acne, and photoageing with its accompanying pigmentation and coarsened skin texture.

Your skin is left feeling smooth and fresh with little or no recovery time needed. The treatment improves the appearance of fine lines, superficial pigmentation, enlarged pores and uneven texture as a result of acne scarring and ageing.

We recommend a series of 6 or more treatments a week apart for best results. We often advise a treatment plan with a mix of peels and dermabrasion to achieve best results, especially for post acne scarring.

Microdermabrasion is not a treatment to correct deeper lines or more deeply placed pigmentation. These problems are better addressed with fractional skin resurfacing with our Active FX Laser.
